Indigo/Shibori
Learn the ancient art of indigo dyeing!
Fresh & Vat Indigo Dye Workshop:
Discover the magic of indigo through multiple dyeing methods using both fresh and dried indigo plants. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to create vibrant, nature-inspired patterns on fabric while exploring the unique characteristics of indigo in its various forms.
Participants are invited to harvest fresh indigo from our farm garden and engage directly with the plants used in the dye process.
Workshop Includes:
- Introduction to fresh leaf and traditional vat indigo dyeing methods
- All necessary materials and dyeing equipment
- Fabric selection guidance (Please pre-scour fabrics before class)
- Hands-on experience with both fresh and fermented indigo dye baths
- An understanding of the chemistry and techniques behind successful indigo dyeing

Print with Botanicals
Come join us on the farm for a lovely day of Botanical printing in the garden!
Experience the magic and alchemy of creating art from the garden, right here on our Bowen Island farm!
At this wonderful half-day workshop, you’ll learn how to print on fabric using gorgeous plant dyes. You’ll even get your hands dirty in the soil, as you harvest botanicals from the farm to use for your creations!
You’ll experience the joy of playing with different materials and elements, as you experiment with various ways of printing on cotton, silk, and linen.
After our time together, you’ll come away from the workshop with a final creation: a botanical print either on a scarf or a set of napkins — your choice! This will be a beautiful piece of work you created with your own two hands, in tandem with the generous land itself.
Our workshop together will be fun, creative, and low-pressure, as you experience the magic of co-creating with the garden.
